Scene:

...I'm standing on a cliff. At this height I can see many things. I can see where I've been, and I can see where I am now. I can also see where I want to be. In the distance, the top of mountains peak out of the clouds. "I want to be over there instead." I say to myself. As I look over the edge, my vision of whats below is obscured by a sea of clouds. I am suddenly stuck with a sense of fear and doubt. Turning, I look back towards the Path that led me here. The Path is clear and invites me back, "You don't really want to go over there do you? How can you possibly think you can make it? Are you just going to sprout wings? Come back this way and stay awhile." The Path's words make sense, and staying right here where its familiar and safe would be easier... "I think I've been here before," I say. Its not the exact same Path, nor the same cliff, however they are quite similar...

I've been thinking about starting this blog for quite sometime now. An embarrassing amount of time actually. I'm not really sure why its taken me so long. I suppose all the excuses running through my head have held me back. Thoughts like "I'm not ready yet", or "what will I say", or "I don't know how to write yet".

I'll be honest with you, I am really tired of these excuses. Ivan Turgenev once said, "If we wait for the moment when everything, absolutely everything is ready, we shall never begin." How can I expect to be a writer if I don't write? How can I expect to make something of myself if I don't do the making? How can I expect to be a Renaissance Man, like I want to be, if I don't do the things I need to do to reach that goal? The person I am today, Is not the person I want to be in the future, at least not completely. I want to vastly improve myself, and be a better me, the best version of me I can be. So, I will change what I can today, to make my tomorrow better, and align today's actions with my vision of who I want to be in the future. It is my hope that RenaissanceManLife.com will be the driving force to get me there, and my dream, that RML will get you there too.

Our mission should we choose to accept it, is to strive for excellence, reach mastery, and live a Renaissance Life. Will you join me?

Sometimes, you need to just throw the doubt and fear away, and just jump.

...I'm standing on a cliff, I look back towards the Path from which I came. The Path invites me back. The Path seems so safe. I shrug my shoulders, and jump.

Reminder #001: Throw the doubt and fear away. They will not give you anything. They will not lead you anywhere you want to go.

See you at the bottom. Race you to the top.
