3 Steps on Giving Advice.

"What you do speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Step 1. Make the journey yourself.

Live it. Take action. Make mistakes.

Live what you say. [tweet]

"To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people just exist." - Oscar Wilde -

When you hit a snag, or find yourself on a path you don't want to be on...

Step 2. Fix it. Solve your problems.

Trail & Error. (or take advice from someone who has already lived it!)

Our problems are our biggest triumphs when we uncover solutions past them.

And if you get stuck - ask for help. There are plenty of people in your life who would be more than willing to help, you just have to ask.

Step 3. Now give advice based on your experiences and your story.

Tell your story. With the Knowledge you accrued along the way, you will be able to lead by example, helping others face their own trials and triumphs.

Don't make the mistake that you can do step 3 without 1 or 2.

Nor can you expect to jump from step 1 to 3 with no 2 in between.

Fake it 'till you make it doesn't apply to advice (well... it does but it's called bad advice.) [tweet]

You can even have step 1 AND 2 down pat, but if they're not ready and open to listen, then they're not ready for your step 3 yet. Be there for them. Live by example. Eventually, they'll start to wonder how things seem to be easy for you, and what's different about your life compared to theirs.
